On January 15, 2025, the BELINTERSAT space project will celebrate its ninth anniversary. This means we are one step away from this milestone, made possible by the ambitious plans of Head of State Alexander Lukashenko. The foundation for the development of the satellite industry in our country was laid on January 20, 2011, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus “On the Establishment of a National Satellite Communications and Broadcasting System on a Competitive Basis.”

From that moment on, a new countdown began. Together with our Chinese partners, we have begun work on a grand project: the development of the National Satellite Communications and Broadcasting System and the production of the Belintersat-1 geostationary communications satellite.

On January 15, 2016, at 7:57 PM Minsk time, the Long March 3B launch vehicle carrying the first Belarusian telecommunications satellite was successfully launched from the Sichan Cosmodrome.

For nine years, the BELINTERSAT team has been fully committed to the project. By harnessing the intelligence, intellect, energy of collaboration, and team spirit, expanding the competencies and strengthening the professionalism of each employee, we can confidently say: the project is not only a current success – it, like our beloved Belarus, has a modern, high-tech future!

“I’ve been working on this project for over 10 years and have witnessed its development and transformation from the idea and drawings of the Belintersat-1 satellite and ground control complex on paper to the National Satellite Communications and Broadcasting System of the Republic of Belarus today. Having risen from a technical support engineer for the spacecraft’s production to the technical manager of this project, I can proudly say that I have been deeply honored to be part of this monumental achievement for the country and to be part of a team I respect immensely!”

During this time, the NSCC&B project, leveraging the capabilities of the Belintersat-1 geostationary satellite, has implemented dozens of international projects and found its application in the national market. Today, the system’s potential is used to broadcast a publicly available high-definition TV package across 100% of Belarus’s territory. It is also used to organize communications channels for the armed forces, thereby ensuring compliance with national and information security requirements.
