In today’s world, where threats can arise unexpectedly, emergency preparedness is becoming more than just a formality; it’s a vital necessity. Regular civil defense and emergency response training at enterprises is a key element of ensuring safety. The Precision Electromechanics Plant (PE PreEM) is no exception.

The latest civil defense and emergency response training took place at ZTEM on April 29 and 30. During the event, our employees practiced the necessary actions in the event of various threats.

ZTEM staff are already well-versed in civil defense in the Republic of Belarus and the tasks it addresses.

During the training, we cover the civil defense structure in Belarus in detail so that every employee understands who is responsible for what in the event of an emergency, including at our enterprise. Particular attention is paid to the civil defense signal: “Attention everyone!”

The public’s actions when alerted to a threat may include:

  • maintaining calm and composure,
  • following the instructions of responsible officials and civil defense agencies,
  • preparing for evacuation or seeking shelter in protective structures,
  • providing assistance to the elderly, children, and people with disabilities.

Current Threats: Drones and Fires

During the latest lesson, we also focused on new types of threats, such as drone detection. It’s important to remember that if you detect a suspicious object in the air, you must:

  • stay away from it,
  • do not attempt to shoot it down or damage it,
  • immediately report its location to law enforcement or emergency services,
  • take shelter in a safe place, away from windows and doors.

Furthermore, during the training, the company’s employees practiced actions in the event of a fire in the administrative building.

It’s important to emphasize that special civil defense units have been created at ZTEM. These units are comprised of trained personnel who possess the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct rescue operations, provide first aid, extinguish fires, and perform other urgent tasks in emergency situations. Their presence significantly increases the level of security at our facility and allows us to quickly respond to emerging threats, minimizing possible consequences.

Investing in Safety

Conducting on-site civil defense and emergency response drills isn’t just about following regulations; it’s an investment in the safety of each employee and the stability of the company’s operations. The knowledge and skills we’ve acquired allow us to be prepared for various scenarios and act cohesively and effectively in critical situations.

Understanding the role of civil defense, familiarity with signals and rules of conduct, and awareness of actions to take upon UAV detection and fire outbreaks form the foundation of the company’s collective security. Knowing that the organization has specially trained civil defense units gives us additional confidence in our ability to handle any challenge. We know that safety is our shared responsibility, and only through joint efforts can we ensure reliable protection against any threat.
