President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the leaders, workers and veterans of organizations included in the system of the State Military-Industrial Committee on the 20th anniversary of the formation of the State Military-Industrial Complex.

“Having gained independence in the early 90s of the last century, Belarus began to create a new independent branch of the economy – the arms industry, designed to ensure the security and defense capability of the young sovereign state,” the congratulations say.

An objectively necessary step in those conditions was the decision to form the State Military Industry Committee, which, as a government body, in close cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, should develop the domestic military-industrial complex, improve existing ones and create new types of weapons, military and special equipment, the President noted.

Over two decades, Belarusian gunsmiths have covered a difficult path from simple modernization of Soviet weapons to the creation of new domestic ones that meet the highest modern requirements, which are now well known and in demand in many regions of the world, the Belarusian leader stated.

“I am convinced that industry workers, understanding the importance of their work for maintaining peace on Belarusian soil, will continue to do everything possible within their own competencies so that our Armed Forces can not only restrain, but if necessary, pacify any aggressor,” the Head of State emphasized .

Alexander Lukashenko wished the leaders, employees and veterans of the State Military Industry Committee peace, health and prosperity, and the arms industry new successes in the noble and responsible task of strengthening the national security of Belarus.
